What are Business Front Ends?
Atoti applications expose real-time analytical data through their cubes. A front end provides the interface through which that data is explored, visualized, and acted on. Business Front Ends are used by anyone who needs to access data from an Atoti application. Typical users include:- Risk managers, traders, and analysts exploring live data through dashboards and pivot tables.
- Operations and control teams working in existing tools such as Excel.
- Developers and administrators configuring front-end connections and managing deployments.
What front ends are available?
The choice of front end affects what Atoti features are available, how data is accessed, and what setup is required. Users already working in a specific tool may prefer to connect to Atoti from within that environment. Developers and administrators are responsible for configuring and enabling the relevant connections.- Atoti UI: the recommended front-end for Atoti applications. It is purpose-built for Atoti and is the only front-end that supports all Atoti features, including real-time data updates and context values.
- Atoti Excel Add-in: brings Atoti UI capabilities into Microsoft Excel, including drillthrough, real-time refresh, context values, and MDX query visibility.
- Microsoft Excel: connects to Atoti via the XMLA protocol without additional components.
- Power BI: supports data import from an Atoti cube via MDX query or the Atoti Python library.
- Tableau: connects to an Atoti application via the Atoti Tableau Adapter, which exposes cube data through a SQL-compatible interface.
