Getting started with the Sign-Off Module

Here are our recommendations for getting started, if you have no or limited experience with the Sign-Off Module.

note

The default implementation provided in the Sign-Off Module has a defined workflow (i.e. task statuses) and defined user roles (i.e. manager, user). This documentation explains the default implementation, but both the state workflow and the user roles can be customized for specific business needs - see the Customizing sign-off workflow in the Sign-Off Module Developer Guide.

Setting up

With the Manager role, you can set up the tasks and workflows in the Sign-Off Module.

Create and publish your tasks

  • Prepare your tasks in CSV to upload in bulk or create tasks individually.

  • Publish the tasks to the assigned owners and approvers.

See Creating tasks and Managing tasks

Design dashboards for your application

  • Create dashboards to include the Sign-off Toolbox widget. The Toolbox then acts as a filter and enables you to perform sign-off actions.

  • For information on the ActiveUI elements you can use to create dashboards, see the ActiveUI User Documentation.

Process your assigned tasks

Use the Sign-off Toolbox widget to perform actions on the data in tasks assigned to you.

The default workflow is as follows:

  1. The owner initiates the task for a specific date, performs any modifications required on that day’s data and submits the task for approval.

See Working with the data in a task.

  2. The designated approver reviews any modifications made, then approves or rejects the task.

    See Approving or rejecting tasks

  3. The Export service automatically exports tasks when they are approved.

    See Exporting approved task data.

note

To change this default workflow, your administrator can modify the workflow type, (that is, the actions available in the Sign-off Toolbox widget for a given role).

For information on the configurations available, see the Customizing sign-off workflow section in the Sign-Off Module Developer Guide.
