# How does Risk Portal work?

> The relationship between portfolio data, saved report setups, and calculated results in Risk Portal, including how organization configuration and account permissions determine available features

Risk Portal is the Atoti Risk Services web application for portfolio data, reports, and access controls.

## How do data, report setup, and results fit together?

A report calculation uses portfolio positions and market data for its configured dates and settings.
The selected report definition determines the measures and columns available.

A saved launcher setup combines the report, portfolio, dates, currency, and applicable data settings.
Saving that setup does not start a calculation.
Running the setup starts report processing.
Check completion status and any warnings before using the results.

## Why can available features differ?

Organization configuration determines which workflows and integrations are available.
Account roles and resource permissions further control access to reports, portfolios, books, and market-data environments.
A visible menu item does not guarantee permission for every operation.

Each task guide identifies its prerequisites and relevant interface controls.
